Zitat:
The front forks, clamps, brake and wheel are DR650. A new stem was machined for the bottom yoke to be compatible with the GS500 steering head.
Rear suspension is standard except for shorter links to raise the seat height and give a steering rake (caster) of 60 deg. Rear wheel is DR650 also.
Wheelbase is 1475 mm (58 in.)
Handling on tarmac is very good. The bike is stable and predictable on straights and bends. No wheel shimmy, or pattering up and down on the road surface. Always good adhesion on the tarmac. I ride with the local group of The Institute of Advanced Motorcyclists and can keep up easily on back roads and major roads. The only time I'll get left behind is on acceleration because there's no way a 500cc is going to keep up with bikes of 600cc and more on a straight line acceleration.
Off road handling is ok on dry gravel and dirt. The limiting factor at the moment is the foot pegs which are too far back to stand-up on the pegs. The weight distribution is all wrong, so that is next on the 'to do' list.
