Servus Jundie,
here is the Instruction to put a Bandit Swingarm and wheel in the GS:
Conversion to swingarm of Bandit 600
Parts needed:
Parts of Bandit 600:
(Most terminology from
http://www.bikebandit.com)
Swingarm, brake caliper complete with bracket, brake hose, torquelink, brake rotor, 4.5” rear wheel, sprocket carrier with rubber shock dampers, rear shock absorber with complete linkage, rear axle with all spacers.
Custom made extra parts:
2 bushings 37 mm long, 25 h6 mm outer dia, 14.2 mm inner dia for the swingarm bearing. Tempered and with finely ground (N6 max) outer surface (These are inner races for needle bearings).
4 bushings: 20 mm long, 14 mm outside dia, 8.2 mm inside dia for the footrests.
How to:
Dismount all GS parts: Swingarm, wheel, chain, footrests with their mountings, exhaust.
Remove original bushings of the Bandit 600 swingarm and replace with the above mentioned bushings.
Mount with a good quality lithium grease
Then slide swingarm into the frame and mount with the GS swing arm axle.
Now install the rear shock absorber and its linkage.
Then install the GS sprocket on the Bandit sprocket carrier.
Install wheel and Bandit brake as usual.
Align the wheel. Chain will run slightly skewed, but not excessively so.
The chain case of the Bandit can be used, if you are so inclined. Mine was custom.
Install footrests using the spacer bushings mentioned above. Use longer screws of 8.8 class.
Bleed the brake.
Install exhaust.
Things to remember:
If you have the original exhaust, this may collide with the new installation; it then would have to be modified.
If you use the swingarm of the POP bandit you will need a chain longer by 3 links.
